THESIS
Randomized Controlled Study on Efficacy of Cortical Mastoidectomy in Tympanoplasty
• Performed a 100 patient computer randomized controlled study over a period of 2 years
• Compared a group of patients suffering from tubotympanic chronic otitis media who underwent only
tympanoplasty to another group who underwent tympanoplasty with cortical mastoidectomy for
difference in graft take up rate post-surgery
• Conducted statistical analysis to conclude that there was no additional benefit of performing cortical
mastoidectomy with tympanoplasty
